For one, Iceland is a relatively small island, and you could get to see a large part of the country in your own campervan. This will not only allow you to fully take in all of its natural beauty but have more autonomy as well. If you didn’t know, Iceland has a huge road that circumvents the whole country called the Ring Road. You could actually get around the whole country in as little as 16 hours if you wanted to. The road is made of pristine asphalt and is very safe too, which will allow you to explore much of the island in full comfort.

 

No Need to Rent a Campsite

 

Unlike many campsites in the US, campsites in Iceland usually don’t require that you reserve a spot. In most cases, you can simply show up and take one. This is very convenient if you need a place to sleep for the night or simply want to go out and do some trekking.

 

Renting a Van is Super Easy

 

There are tons of services in Iceland that will allow you to rent a fully equipped campervan. Services like https://happycampers.is/, for instance, will allow you to rent a campervan for as little as 70 euros a day. 

You can also look for extras that will make your trip even better. For instance, services will usually allow you to rent things like a BBQ, a power inverter or even a camping table for a small fee. Also, look for a company that offers things like free Wi-fi, which could come in handy if you’re on a limited data plan.

One of the great things about renting a van is that you’ll be able to save on food, which tends to be on the expensive side in Iceland. You’ll be able to save on accommodation as well.
